February 2022 Newsletter

We sure hope you are having a wonderful 2022 so far!

As we continue through the winter months, it’s very important to watch out for ice! While many of our patients have a chronic illness, there are quite a few injuries that we treat as well. We always say we can help treat you “no matter the site or source of your pain,” and we stand by it!

Aside from your physical health, we know that the winter months can bring on the blues. Since we don’t spend as much time in the sunshine getting natural vitamin D, try adding more to your diet or take a supplement (available for purchase in our office). Some foods rich in vitamin D are fatty fish and seafood (salmon, swordfish, tuna, cod liver oil), mushrooms, egg yolks, oranges, kale, spinach, milk, and fortified cereals.  Other supplements available for purchase in our office include Standard Minerals and Turmeric which acts as an anti-inflammatory.

DID YOU KNOW....

The man cycling on the cover of our PRP brochure is actually Dr. Anwar himself?!

Dr. Anwar has not only competed in numerous triathlons but is an IRON MAN! He makes his health a priority and understands what it feels like to be in your shoes. Through many injuries he has struggled to continue at times, but never quit doing what he loves and draws motivation from his kids. With a son in college and daughter in high school, they can compete together and enjoy sports, skiing, cycling, golf, and more.

GOOD LUCK....

We wish our Physician Assistant Taylor safe travels as she furthers her education and training for Fascial Counterstrain Technique at the Jones Institute in Carlsbad, CA later this month!

Stem cell banking, which utilizes cryogenically frozen stem cells, has been made possible thanks to the advancement of modern science. By banking your stem cells, you can take advantage of their regenerative capabilities. Known as “health insurance for the future,” you can be prepared for any potential medical conditions or need for medical treatment that may arise down the line. Stem cells derived from autologous (your own body’s) tissue are ideal for those looking to bank their cells. Research shows that telomeres, the protective end caps on DNA that shorten with age, are longer on your own adipose (fatty) tissue than bone marrow. This makes your fatty tissue an ideal and less painful source for preserving stem cells. Exosomes, derived from placental or umbilical cord tissue, are often recommended for older adults or those with other medical issues. However, banking your stem cells would be the best option if you have a younger and healthier body. Parents can also choose to bank tissue of their newborns, to culture expand the mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) stored in the tissue. This banking is different than cord blood because doing so can provide up to 500 million live MSCs available to their children in the future, ensuring they have access to regenerative treatments and therapies as needed or desired. The potential benefits of stem cell banking are endless. You might use your banked cells for back or arthritis pain in joints, injuries such as a torn ligament or inflamed tendon, accelerated healing of more severe fractures, or even aesthetic treatments.
