Taylor Olson, Physician Assistant for Chicago Stem Cell Therapy and Pain Management Institute

Meet our Physician Assistant Taylor!

Taylor joined our office in June 2021, and we’re so happy she did! She attended the University of Wisconsin- Madison and Dominican University, but also studied abroad in Seville, Spain (ella habla español!) With a Master of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies, you’ll see her in the office examining patients, diagnosing, and performing some injection treatments. Taylor grew up in Minnesota but now lives with her partner Drew and 2 cats Clove & Dobby.

Her favorite vacation spot is Caye Caulker, Belize but has always wanted to visit Croatia. Fun fact: she has 25 years training and is a current member of a professional contemporary dance company!

(Ok, ok... we see why you love Caye Caulker! )

Important dates:

3/16- Medical Assistant Alexa’s birthday

3/17- St. Patrick’s Day

3/18- Scheduling Coordinator Carrie’s birthday

As we enter March, we still never know what type of weather to expect every day! They say if the month ‘comes in like a lion’ then it ‘leaves like a lamb’ or vice versa. One thing is for sure- we’re not clear of icy conditions just yet. We never want anyone to be hurt, but sadly it’s inevitable, especially on the job. Private industry employers reported 2.7 million nonfatal workplace injuries and illnesses in 2020, down from 2.8 million in 2019. Having a personal or work-related injury can be scary, but Dr. Anwar has worked with many law firms who navigate the legal side of the cases, while he treats you and the pain it has caused. Many providers shy away from cases like these, but we have specialized workers comp/ personal injury billing staff and case management and have seen hundreds of cases in our office.

Top 5 types of workplace injuries

1.     Trips, slips, and falls

2.    Being struck by or caught in moving machinery

3.    Vehicle related accidents

4.    Fire and explosions

5.    Repetitive stress and overexertion injuries

Stem cell banking, which utilizes cryogenically frozen stem cells, has been made possible thanks to the advancement of modern science. By banking your stem cells, you can take advantage of their regenerative capabilities. Known as “health insurance for the future,” you can be prepared for any potential medical conditions or need for medical treatment that may arise down the line. Stem cells derived from autologous (your own body’s) tissue are ideal for those looking to bank their cells. Research shows that telomeres, the protective end caps on DNA that shorten with age, are longer on your own adipose (fatty) tissue than bone marrow. This makes your fatty tissue an ideal and less painful source for preserving stem cells. Exosomes, derived from placental or umbilical cord tissue, are often recommended for older adults or those with other medical issues. However, banking your stem cells would be the best option if you have a younger and healthier body. Parents can also choose to bank tissue of their newborns, to culture expand the mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) stored in the tissue. This banking is different than cord blood because doing so can provide up to 500 million live MSCs available to their children in the future, ensuring they have access to regenerative treatments and therapies as needed or desired. The potential benefits of stem cell banking are endless. You might use your banked cells for back or arthritis pain in joints, injuries such as a torn ligament or inflamed tendon, accelerated healing of more severe fractures, or even aesthetic treatments.
